3 Simple Steps to Deep Clean Your Wash Bag or Makeup Bag

Most people never clean their makeup bag. But germs like E.coli and staphylococci can live inside it. A quick deep clean helps keep your products and your skin safer. Here is an easy 3-step routine.

Step 1: Empty and Check Your Products

• Take everything out of your wash bag.

• Wipe dust or loose powder off bottles and compacts.

• Check expiry dates and throw away old or strange-smelling products.

• A good habit: write the open date on each product with a marker.

Step 2: Clean and Disinfect the Bag

Inside:

• Turn the makeup bag inside out.

• Use a clean, dry toothbrush to brush out crumbs and dried makeup in the corners.

• Wipe the lining with a cotton pad or cloth and some gentle makeup remover or mild soap.

• Spray a small amount of non-bleach antibacterial spray on the lining.

• Wipe it in with a clean cloth and leave the bag open to dry completely.

Outside:

• Turn the bag back the right way.

• Spray the outside with antibacterial spray and wipe it clean.

• If the fabric is creased, gently warm it with a hairdryer on a hot setting and smooth the folds with your hand.

Step 3: Keep It Clean

• Let the bag dry fully before you put products back.

• Repack only the items you really use.

• Deep clean your makeup bag about once a month.

• In between, give the inside a quick spray and wipe once a week.

Now your makeup bag is fresh, organised, and ready for your favourite beauty products again.
